Why did you choose to participate in an international trade fair like Samoter in Italy?
Develon chose to participate in Samoter because it is one of the most important trade fairs in our industry. It provides a valuable opportunity to connect with international clients, partners, and the media.
What strategic value does this event hold for your company?
From a strategic perspective, this event is a key opportunity to showcase our latest innovations and closely monitor market trends. Participating in Samoter also allows us to strengthen existing relationships and build new ones.
What are the main innovations you will be presenting at this edition of Samoter?
Develon will show the newly launched DX360LC-9 and DX400HD-9 models from our new Series 9 Smart Crawler Excavator range, adding to a new unique and innovative excavator platform built on full electronic hydraulic (FEH) technology and integrated artificial intelligence. Like all Series 9 machines, these new models combine 10 (ten) ground-breaking technologies and will redefine and set new industry levels of Productivity, Safety, Operator Convenience and Sustainability.
As part of the Series 9 model, Develon will also present the groundbreaking E-Stop system, the first technology of its kind developed specifically for the excavator market.
Our series 9 excavator range can now be equipped with smart safety technologies including around-view monitoring, collision-risk warnings and the E-Stop system — which automatically stops machine movement when a person is detected within a 4-metre safety zone. The Smart All-Around Viewing Monitor (SAVM) and E-Stop system form an AI-powered safety platform providing real-time 360-degree monitoring of the machine’s surroundings. The innovative E-Stop system works alongside a Virtual Wall function to prevent accidents operators may not see or anticipate.
Another innovation will be the Transparent Bucket 2.0 (TB2.0) system, an advanced safety and visibility system for the company’s wheel loaders. Designed to eliminate blind spots, TB2.0 improves both operator safety and jobsite efficiency. TB2.0 introduces AI-powered Object Detection (OD) and Object Recognition to provide enhanced safety and real-time hazard alerts. AI-powered Object Detection (OD) identifies objects - including people - within 10 meters and immediately alerts the operator. With Advanced Object Recognition, the system learns the position of the bucket and automatically adjusts the composite image to match the movement of the bucket, ensuring accurate real-time visualization.
Which trends are you focusing on most in the development of your products: sustainability, automation, digitalization, or other areas?
Develon is ‘Powered by Innovation’ and this is not just our slogan. For many years we have been pursuing a path to offer our customers a complete and innovative experience, which goes beyond the ordinary sale of a standard mass production machine. Automation, digitalization and sustainability all therefore play a key role in driving such innovations.
Our innovations rest on three major pillars: first, our ultra-decadal expertise on the heavy line - namely quarry and earthmoving ; secondly a technically strong distribution network that guarantees proximity to the customer; and finally a strong vocation for so-called special applications, which we continue to develop year after year thanks to investments in areas such as demolition, tunneling, material and waste handling and forestry. We acquire specialized knowledge by collaborating with national or regional partners that we then try to transfer to mass production.
Develon’s approach to other areas like electrification is built on practical innovation, strategic collaboration, and a commitment to delivering the right solutions exactly when the market needs them. As a global manufacturer, Develon leverages its broad engineering capability while partnering closely with specialized European electric-drive and battery suppliers, ensuring every new model benefits from the latest technological expertise.
Rather than pursuing electrification in isolation, Develon has established a development model that is agile, collaborative, and market-driven.
How are these reflected in your solutions?
We've raised safety levels on construction sites like no other before, with revolutionary innovations as mentioned previously like the transparent bucket and the recent introduction of the E-Stop technology, which stops the machine's movements when a human enters its work area. By prioritising human detection and proactive intervention, Develon believes these smart safety technologies can deliver a substantial reduction in accident rates.
The long-term vision is clear: construction sites where serious accidents are no longer accepted as inevitable — but prevented before they occur.
Develon is taking job site productivity to the next level as well with the Series 9 range. These next-generation crawler excavators provide smart technologies and performance and versatility features to help operators work smarter and more efficiently. Together these provide up to 10% greater fuel efficiency and up to 7% increased engine output to allow operators to move more material with less overheads.
With electrification, our partnership-driven strategy enables the delivery of electric excavators that match diesel performance while integrating advanced charging, powertrain, and control solutions tailored for European jobsite requirements. As a result, Develon can introduce new models at precisely the moment contractors need them—supporting the continent’s rapid shift toward lower-emission, high-efficiency construction equipment. By working directly with experienced system integrators and customers in leading electric markets, Develon is able to accelerate development cycles, validate technology in real applications, and bring fully functional machines to market with confidence
